Q. How do I participate in your online auctions?
A. Our online auctions are conducted by Agora Auctions. To bid, you must register on their website. Bids must be placed on Agora Auctions website (or we can handle your bid offline). Bids above the minimum required bid, are secret bids. The website will bid on the lot for you in response to other bids up to your maximum limit using 5-10% increments and will attempt to buy the lot for you at the cheapest possible price. Agora Auctions will display the high bid and bidder for each lot. If you are outbid Agora will contact you by email and give you a chance to raise your bid or focus your attention on another lot.
Q. What happens if I am outbid after I placed my initial bid online.
A. If you are outbid during the auction you will receive an outbid notice from Agora. In the last minutes of the auction it pays to be watching your lots live on Agora so you can increase your bid if your are outbid. You can even increase your bid if you are still the high bidder with no worry that you are bidding against yourself.
Q. What happens when the online auction is over? How do I know if I won? Who do I pay? When will the lot be shipped?
A. Agora will send you an invoice for the lots you won. You would then pay Agora for the lots plus postage. Agora will mail the lots to you only after you have paid for them. Agora will not send any lots on approval or without payment in advance.
Q. How can I participate offline in your auctions?
A. You may submit bids to us at Spartan Numismatics by phone, fax, mail, or email. The latest time to place an offline bid is at 3 PM the day before the auction closes online. We will enter your bids directly on the Agora Auctions website using one of our Spartan-Mail bidder accounts. Your bid or buy will be resolved by Agora Auctions. Agora will contact us with your results and we will contact you by US mail with an invoice. You would then pay us at Spartan Numismatics for the invoice. Agora will mail you the lots after we report that payment was received by us.
